slowthai short artist biography: Tyron Kaymone Frampton, better known as slowthai (a mix of his name and a speech impediment he had as a child that caused him to mumble, as indicated in his Radar Radio interview), is an English MC with an aggressive, gritty, and pessimistic take on the contemporary UK rap scene.
He was raised by a single mother on a council estate in Northampton and has subsequently studied music.
The Northampton musician’s debut EP, I Wish I Knew, received widespread praise, and publications like Pitchfork and Complex listed him as one to watch in 2018.

Due to his difficult childhood on a council estate and anti-establishment views, he has a reoccurring theme of politically heated lyrics in his music. He called one tour “Brexit Bandit” and frequently cited Theresa May. “My purpose is to change the world in some manner, shape, or form,” he said.

In 2019, he released Nothing Wonderful About Britain, his debut full-length album, which featured high-brow collaborations from British musicians Skepta, Mura Masa, and Jaykae. The Guardian music critic Alexis Petridis gave this album a score of 5 stars out of 5, making it his most popular release to date.
